70- year-old Madam Chan has been blind since an illness at a very young age. But her physical weakness did not deter her to pursue an active life with her brothers and sisters, like hiking and climbing. Since her family passed away some years ago, 2 primary school classmates take care of her.
As she is suffering from end-stage kidney failure, she wanted to visit Macau with her carers so as to meet the couple’s son who is a Catholic priest in a local church. The social worker at Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospital referred the case to the Brothers And Sisters In Christ (BASIC) Foundation for help.
BASIC Volunteers consist of nurses and photographers who took them to Macau so that they could attend the mass in church. Our thanks go to HK Club Foundation for their assistance to fulfil the wish of the low-income elderly. Our heartfelt thanks for your helping hands.
