Beneficiary: 28 elderly Wish journey: July 14, 2021 At the height of the pandemic in the summer of 2021, BASIC’s volunteers were called in to help for the first time to elderlies living in Hing Nam Care home in Shatin. These elderlies felt lonely and isolated as their families were kept away during the pandemic. The home chief sought help from us. Madam Kwan was diagnosed with final stage lung cancer, she wished to take a set of fully-dressed picture for the celebration of their 46th wedding anniversary this year.
To many people, a family photo is ever a difficult task. But it was a long wait for Mr Yuan, father of 2 sons. The end-stage cancer patient always dreamt of a picture with the whole family. Basic volunteers made his dream come true.
Madam Ng joined her husband 15 years ago from China and had a daughter. As a bread earner of the family, she never had time to tour around HK. She wanted to spend an enjoyable day with her only daughter, sister and friends
Madam Ng was suffering a nerve illness that she would eventually shutting down her body functions. She wanted to spend a day with the family before it was too late.
Madam Chan was a fan of Singer Miriam Yeung. As she was admitted to hospital for end-stage cancer, she wished she could listen to Miriam’s songs in her last days.
Retired Education Officer Madam was well respected for teaching students with learning difficulty. She wanted to publish books about the topic without success.
Rev Chui suffered from serious pneumonia 4 times and cancer for 4 times in the past 16 years. Yet he is still preaching the Gospel. Volunteers helped to edit and published his stories in fighting illnesses.
