“圓願50”sharing

Event date: 15th August 2021

We launched “Project Amen” 3 years ago to fulfill wishes of those over 18- year- old with life-threatening illness free of charge, which more than 120 families benefited from the project. In order to improve our services, we asked Dr. Esther Chow, Associate Professor of Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences, City University of Hong Kong, and her team to conduct research on our first 50 wish journey beneficiaries. The research team analyzed the data and shared with our volunteers in the “圓願50” sharing.

The research findings discovered that the wish journeys were able to promote the traditional Chinese value: filial piety. The wish journeys increase the linkage between individuals and their family. Through having wish journeys, beneficiaries were able to speak up with their families and  express their gratitude and love to their loved ones. As a result, both were relieved and could start thinking of the meanings of life. To further enhance our services,we are  going to have another investigation called Family Dignity Intervention (FDI).

In this sharing, we also invited Mr Shek, former reporter, screenwriter and director of TVB, to hold a small workshop for our volunteers. Mr Shek shared how to use a mobile phone to have video shooting and editing via a free mobile app. Participants were able to pass on their fond memories after this workshop.

We sincerely thank Ms Leung Tsui-shan,Head of Corporate Services of BMCPC, attended the sharing session.
